Launch of a game application to reduce deficiencies on board ships

Hong Kong ship management giant Anglo-Eastern has launched an educational game app aimed at reducing deficiencies on board ships.

Launched during Hong Kong Maritime Week, Vessel Inspector is a gaming app that encourages players to compete with their peers to achieve zero impairment. The goal is to improve situational awareness skills in a competitive play environment to complement learning and amplify learning outcomes.

Vessel Inspector is intended for seafarers, as well as ship managers, marine managers and port state inspectors. It was developed in collaboration with MarinePALS using the GAMES platform from MarinePALS and is available through the Google Play Store.

The app is one of the first in the maritime industry to use gaming technology to create a fun and engaging learning experience.

“Over two-thirds of our workforce are millennials. They love technology and games. So we think gaming apps are a good way to enhance learning by providing a fun, engaging and interactive environment with an element of competition, ”said Captain Pradeep Chawla, Managing Director of QHSE and Training at Anglo- Eastern. Anglo-Eastern CEO Captain Bjorn Hojgaard said the latest app launch was part of the company’s digital transformation across all areas of operations.
